COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland didnt spend much time going over the tape of last Saturdays 52-7 loss to Wisconsin. When things like that happen, coach Randy Edsall said, its always better to put it behind you and move forward.By the end of the weekend, the Terrapins were already looking ahead to their next game. Unfortunately, that matchup is this Saturday at Penn State.Theres some history there, none of it good for Maryland. The teams havent met since 1993, before most of the current players on the Terrapins roster were born. But they all seem to know that before this so-called rivalry ended, Maryland was 1-35-1 against Penn State. It would mean a lot to get that second win against them, running back Brandon Ross said Tuesday. Now that the Terrapins are in the Big Ten, they will face Penn State on a regular basis. For this to become a rivalry, however, Maryland (5-3, 2-2) must prove it can compete with the Nittany Lions (4-3, 1-3).To have any kind of rivalry, youve got to win games, Edsall said. Thats one thing we havent done here at the University of Maryland. If youre going to make any kind of series a rivalry, theres got to be wins on our side. Before the home-and-home series mercifully concluded, Penn State was dominant. Marylands lone victory came in 1961, and the only other time in 37 games that the Nittany Lions failed to walk away a winner was in 1989, when the Terrapins used a late field goal to earn a 13-13 tie in Baltimore. You hate to tie a team like Maryland, Penn State linebacker Andre Collins said after the game.It wouldnt happen again. Penn State won the next four games by a collective 190-37 score, culminated by a 70-7 blowout in 1993.And now, a new era of Maryland players have a chance to turn things around, for the sake of all the grads who never experienced the sensation of beating Penn State. Its definitely special. A lot of alumni are looking at this; it has a lot more meaning for them, Terps quarterback C.J. Brown said. For us, we havent played them in forever. Its another game, obviously heightened because of who the head coach is.Former Maryland assistant James Franklin is now head coach at Penn State. Franklin was in line to take over for Ralph Friedgen but left for Vanderbilt in December 2010, shortly before Friedgen was ousted and replaced by Edsall. Franklin experienced tremendous success before taking the job at Penn State last January. The Nittany Lions won four straight to open the Franklin era, but have since lost three in a row, including 31-24 in double-overtime to Ohio State last weekend.Marylands weekend, of course, was even worse. Wisconsin led 24-0 at halftime, finished with 311 yards rushing and limited the Terrapins to 10 first downs overall.Despite the loss, Maryland still needs only one win to become bowl eligible, and that will be their main incentive Saturday. To be 3-2 in the conference and get that sixth win, thats really what were focused on now, Ross said. Thats what makes this game so big. Jonathan Stewart Jersey .That is precisely what they got Sunday. The Ravens trailed at halftime and never built a comfortable lead against lowly Jacksonville, yet did just enough to squeeze out a 20-12 win to stay in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Lorenzo Carter Giants Jersey . "I dont know where we would be without him," McClendon said. "Hes done a tremendous job for us and (Wednesday) was no different." Logan Morrison drove in two runs in Seattles big sixth inning, Young pitched seven strong innings and the Mariners beat the Houston Astros 5-2 to complete a three-game sweep. http://www.giantsrookiestore.com/Giants-Bj-Hill-Jersey/.Y. - For once, Clayton Kershaw was glad to see a long shutout streak end. Alec Ogletree Giants Jersey . Bilbaos first victory in four rounds lifted it four points clear of Real Sociedad and kept it in command of Spains last Champions League berth for next season. In contrast, Betis was left 11 points from safety after a dismal performance that at times bordered on self-destruction amid some questionable refereeing decisions. Nate Solder Giants Jersey . Among the teams moves was trading one of the teams two third round picks, no. 83 overall, to the Chicago Blackhawks for Brandon Bollig, a six-foot-two, 223-pound left-winger who had seven goals, seven assists, and 92 penalty minutes in 82 games last season.STANFORD, Calif. - Serena Williams roared back after falling behind in the third set to beat Ana Ivanovic 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 on Friday night to reach the semifinals of the Bank of the West Classic. The top-seeded and top-ranked Williams dropped three consecutive games to fall behind 4-3 and then ripped seven straight points to right the ship in front of a sellout crowd at Stanford. "It wasnt very easy," Williams said. "I tried to do the things I worked on. Im feeling really good. Im not out of breath, so yeah." Williams assured herself of a 200th non-consecutive week at the top of the ladder while Ivanovic will return to the top 10 for first time in over five years. Andrea Petkovic ended Venus Williams run in the tournament, beating the former top-ranked player 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 in the quarterfinals. She gets a shot at Serena Williams on Saturday afternoon. "You dont ever have the feeling you have something under control when you play either of them," Petkovic said. "They can hit so hard, and play consistently well. You always have to be on your toes." Following a shaky start, the 25th-ranked Venus Williams picked up her game in the second set and appeared poised to take over the match. The 18th-ranked Petkovic rallied in the third set, taking leads of 3-1 and 5-3, to beat Williams in their first meeting since Luxembourg in 2012. "I was not as on as I was on previous days," Williams said. "I had to fight through that and I think I almost did that. But she played the last two points better." Pettkovic, making her debut in the tournament, is looking for her third title of the season.dddddddddddd. She also reached the semifinal at the French Open. "I played one of my best games in the third set at 5-5," Petkovic said. "Before that it was a weird match. There were so many momentum changes and so many ups and downs, I felt like I played four different matches in one." The Serena-Ana match was similar as Ivanovic dominated the first set before Williams turned it around in the second set. The third set took on a life of its own. Both players simply refused to go away and battled through long rallies and silly errors. Serena served for the match at 5-4 but Ivanovic denied her. Serena broke back and used a pair of aces to take a 40-0 lead before ending it when Ivanovics return went just wide. Varvara Lepchenko took care of qualifier Sachia Vickery, 6-1, 6-0, to earn her 400th career win, which includes all levels. "It was hard to play someone from the United States who I know very well," Lepchenko said. "Ive practiced with her often before. I knew this match would be mentally tough but was just trying to play the best tennis I could." She will meet third-seeded Angelique Kerber in Saturday nights semifinal. Kerber topped Garbine Muguruza, 6-2, 6-1. "She is definitely one of the tougher lefty opponents out there, so I will have to play and fight for every single point," Lepchenko said. "Im going to stay focused on my game and hopefully things will work out well for me."
